Montana's 1st High Stakes Slot Race ran for the second consecutive year at the Great Northern Fairgrounds. The slot race is set in a 3D format with 1/2 splits. It was exciting to watch as many of Montana's finest barrel racers and their horses squared off to run for the $10560.00 purse.
Joeleen Ottun & Dr. Three Ohs Flit rounded 3 in 17.487 to win. The duo made a run that would make her daddy proud and took home $2640. Dr Three Ohs Flit, a seven year old son of Dr Nick Bar, out of a Three Ohs bred mare. The pair came up through the futurity ranks together, placing 5th in the average at the Fizz Bomb, winning the futurity amateur division and placing in the top 10 of the WBRA Futurity in Moses Lake, where they were reserve Amateur Champions.

Morgan Knudsen picked up second in the 1D on A Cute Cash with a time of 17.629, and won the 2D riding Getthecashtogether with an 18.061, winning $1584 for each placing. She left with a total of $3168. Rounding off the 1D winners was high school freshman, Laurel White and her long time mount, Go Rebel Frost. The pair ran 17.768, slightly slower than their 17.765 they ran earlier in the Open, giving them the 1D win for the day. They picked up $1056 in the slot race and $482.10 for the Saturday 1D win.
Closely following at Morgan's heels in the 2D was Becky Halverson & Fix My Patches with an 18.084. The Plentywood pair went home with $950.40 worth of slot monies. DBRS Golden Girl packed Tanya Getten to the pay window last year and she carried Kathy Getten this year with at time of 18.104 and $633.
Running an 18.570 on Go For Gas, Lynn Clark took home the 3D honors. The nine year old mare was raised and trained by Lynn. They also took home $1056 from the slot race and $485 for winning Sunday's 3D race. Kim Wermling, riding MNV Let Me Run ran a 18.589 for a $633 check. Finishing out the list of winners was Rayna Rice, with a time of 18.971, for a $422 share of the pot.
