The first annual Borderline Barrel Race was held August 22-23 at the Great Northern Fairgrounds in Havre, MT.  In addition to a 4D barrel race being held both Saturday and Sunday, Montana's first slot race took place Saturday evening.

The slot race was set up in a 3D format, with a $250 entry fee.  Only 4% was taken out of the total pot, and three places were paid out in each division. Rayna Rice, aboard Action For Cash RB, won the 1D of the slot race, taking home $3000.  Lisa Hedden, riding for Hooves & Stalls Racing and riding Disciple Of Speed, won the 2D, taking home $1800 and Maria Gee, riding RU Ready Freddy won the 3D, taking home $1200.

The 4D had over 140 entries each day.  Saddles were given to the average winner of each division, buckles to second place and tack to third and fourth place average winners.  Morgan Knudson, Great Falls, MT,  dominated the 1D both days and took the saddle home for the 1D average.  Her horse, Peace Policy, is a seasoned rodeo veteran and is helping Morgan qualify for her first circuit finals.

TerriKay Leibrand traveled from Northeastern Montana to win the 2D average saddle   aboard Keyo Cedar Man.  Raelene Konzak, riding Bee took home the 3D average win and Bobbie Hicks rode Little Bon Bon Queen to the 4D average win.
